In memory of our Allie

Beautiful, cherished, exceptional and irreplaceable.

Our Allie passed away on May 5, 2020. Left to treasure her memory are her husband, Octavio Tivoli, and daughter, Emily Tivoli; her parents, Ralph and Pam Bouchard; and her sisters, Jen (Ray) and Cal (Theresa).

Allie was born in Winnipeg, but became a world traveller early in her life, growing up in Santa Monica, Vancouver and Toronto. Family moves blossomed into a love for travel - first with her parents and siblings, then with her husband and daughter. Despite all of her international trips, Allie always returned to two of her favourite cities: Vancouver and Los Angeles. She made a point of visiting them nearly every year of her life.

Besides travel, Allie had many passions. Art, music, and food are the ones that have left the most lasting impressions on the loved ones she leaves behind. From a young age, Allie was a beautiful flautist, pianist and performer, and remained an avid musical theater (and ABBA) fan for her entire life. In university she moved into the visual arts, studying interior design and art history. Working at a design firm in her early twenties culminated in designing her first house, which she built with her architect husband and where she taught her daughter the value and versatility of white walls, furniture, dishes, and just about everything else.

Her love of art led her to the rewarding experience of teaching art history at one of her alma maters, the University of Manitoba. Despite switching to a career for her other passion, travel, Allie never stopped teaching people about art, providing knowledge and enthusiasm every time a friend or family member joined her in a gallery or museum.

Throughout her life, Allie cared for, impressed, and comforted the people in her life with food. Whether as the oldest sister, a health-conscious mother, or a tasteful hostess, she had a recipe for just about anything. We will always remember her with the recipes she enjoyed making for the people she loved.

Travel was the center of both Allie's professional and personal life. Working at Air Canada for 24 years, she made life-long friendships and loved her many different roles helping people fly across the world to experience the same travel she loved to do herself. Nearly all her time off was spent doing just that: flying. Whether for a sister's basketball game, a niece's graduation, or a quick weekend in NYC or Dublin, Allie was always thinking about and planning her next getaway.

Allie’s heart, soul, creativity, humour, selflessness, generosity, resilience and determination made her a role model, a leader, a teacher but most of all, a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, colleague and friend who left indelible prints of her smile and spirit in our hearts.

May we all carry in our souls some essence of Allie and may we be forever enriched by her influence.

When we lose a remarkable person, the most important thing we can do is keep them alive in our hearts and minds by sharing memories and stories.
